PhD positions in Infection Biology for fast-track students of the UHH

Hamburg Research Training Group „Humans and Microbes“ (RTG 2771, funded by the DFG)

Pay grade 65% 13 TVöD/VKA

As part of the fast-track program of the University of Hamburg (UHH), doctoral positions in the following research projects are to be filled from November 2025 or later (7 positions are located at the UKE)

(1) Control of Yersinia translocon activity and immune recognition

(2) Interplay between Yersinia enterocolitica and the autophagosomal/lysosomal system in epithelial host cells and organoids

(3) Characterization of Fic enzyme targets from Legionella

(4) Proteome-based analysis of Borrelia phagosome compaction

(5) Deciphering the transport processes leading to secondary envelopment of herpesviruses

(6) The role of importin-α7 in the assembly of the influenza A virus ribonucleoprotein complex and nuclear transport

(7) Investigation of the life cycle of the BK virus and the antiviral mechanisms of BKV-specific inhibitors in human primary cells and kidney organoids

(8) Key determinants of vesicular trafficking in the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum

(9) Spatio-temporal dynamics of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid interactome

In the fast-track program of the UHH, the usual phase of an independent Master’s program is omitted and integrated into the doctoral phase. The second Master’s year already takes place in the laboratory and is used to write the Master’s thesis and prepare for the doctoral thesis.
